Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. It’s a busy day for the Virginia Tech Hokies as the men’s basketball team is competing in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas, while the women’s team is in the Virgin Islands
to face BYU in the Paradise Jam. Meanwhile, new head football coach James Franklin is holding down the fort in Blacksburg.
On Thursday, Virginia Tech landed a commitment from three-star offensive tackle Roseby Lubintus from Timber Creek High School in Sicklerville, New Jersey. The 6-foot-5, 330-pound Lubintus was initially committed to Franklin before flipping his commitment to Syracuse. He backed off his pledge to Syracuse last month and planned to recommit to Franklin, wherever he landed. Penn State fired Franklin on October 12, and Lubintus decommitted from Syracuse two days later.
Lubintus was one of several players Franklin hosted for an official visit in Blacksburg last weekend for the Hokies’ final home game against Miami.
Lubintus, whose nickname is “Purgatory,” reacted to the news of his commitment on X.
More from Lubintus:
Here are some highlights from Lubintus’ 2024 season.
It’s impressive that Franklin was able to land Lubintus without an offensive coordinator or offensive line coach in place. Of course, he probably knows who he will hire and relayed that to Lubintus and other recruits. Matt Moore is Virginia Tech’s current offensive line coach, but Franklin could bring his former offensive line coach, Phil Trautwein, with him from Penn State.
The first thing you notice about Lubintus is his massive size. He has the frame to stick at offensive tackle at the next level.
Lubintus is the 10th commitment for Virginia Tech’s 2026 recruiting class and the second this week, following four-star running back Messiah Mickens.
Welcome home, Roseby.
