Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell announced on Tuesday that safety Kerby Joseph, a 2024 All-Pro who led the NFL in interceptions last season, will miss the team’s Thanksgiving game against the Green
Bay Packers. Joseph, along with Brian Branch, is considered to be half of one of the NFL’s best safety pairings in the NFL.
Joseph has been dealing with a knee injury, which has kept him off the field since October 12th against the Kansas City Chiefs. Without Joseph, the Lions’ replacement starter has been Thomas Harper, who was claimed off waivers by Detroit at the roster cutdown deadline this year. The former undrafted player made five starts with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2024 as a rookie and is staring down his sixth start with the Lions this season.
In the first matchup between the Packers and Lions, Joseph only allowed 11 passing yards in 47 coverage snaps, per NFL Pro. Branch also allowed just two yards on the same number of reps. Hopefully, Green Bay will find a little more success against Harper.
Joseph, along with receiver Kalif Raymond, tight end Brock Wright and center Graham Glasgow, was a non-participant in Detroit’s walkthrough practice on Monday.
