Chris Barnett has found a new home in Power Slap.
On Wednesday, Power Slap announced that “Beast Boy” signed with the slap-fighting promotion and will join their Heavyweight division. Currently, Barnett does not have a debut matchup scheduled or date lined up.
Barnett was a member of the UFC roster for four years and six fights, going 2-4 in that span. Despite his struggles, “Huggy Bear” was a lovable underdog and produced at least one legendary moment: his spinning wheel kick knockout of Gian Villante
in 2021 (watch here). Barnett was released last year after a dreadful loss to Hamdy Abdelwahab, but the 40-year-0ld veteran already returned to the win column in Karate Combat.
Notably, this is the first time we’ve seen a male ex-UFC fighter make the transition to Power Slap. Combat sports star Paige VanZant and former UFC Strawweight Emily Whitmire have crossed over, but Barnett still breaks new ground by heading to the podium.
Maybe the historic journeyman can make a run at gold in his latest combat sports endeavor?
