Minnesota Golden Gophers head football coach P.J. Fleck is reportedly set to promote rush ends coach C.J. Robbins to the defensive line coach position, which has been vacant since Dennis Dottin-Carter was dismissed from the coaching staff earlier this month.
No formal announcement has come from the University, but both the Pioneer Press and 247 Sports are reporting that the move is all but official. Robbins is already coaching the defensive line ahead of the Rate Bowl.
Robbins was a graduate assistant
at Minnesota from 2020-21 before accepting a position coaching outside linebackers at South Dakota in 2022. After one season with the Coyotes, he left to follow former Minnesota running backs coach Kenni Burns to Kent State, where Robbins spent two seasons as an assistant. He was hired in February of this year to return to Minnesota as the rush ends coach under Fleck.
