With the 2026 recruiting class and transfer class locked up, head coach Sonny Dykes and his staff are looking forward to the next cycle and have already tabbed one 2027 prospect to come to Fort Worth. Brice McCurdy, a three-star quarterback prospect and a top-50 quarterback in the nation, announced his commitment to the Horned Frogs last week. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder from Waco, Texas has offers from TCU as well as Arizona, Baylor, Boston College, Cincinnati, Houston, Kansas, Ole Miss, Syracuse,
Texas Tech, UCF, SMU and more.
McCurdy plays high school football at Robinson, where he threw for 2,016 yards, 17 touchdowns and only five interceptions on 113-for-180 passing as a sophomore. McCurdy also ran for 410 yards and four touchdowns on 8.04 yards per carry as a sophomore. As a junior in 2025, he completed 145-of-210 passes for 2,246 yards and 23 touchdowns while rushing for 688 yards and eight scores on 116 carries. McCurdy was an All-District honoree.
McCurdy is the lone recruit of the 2027 class for the Horned Frogs, who saw three-star quarterback Jerry Meyer III decommit on Feb. 4. Meyer III had been committed to TCU since Aug. 31, but the Horned Frogs have since changed staffs on offense, with Kendal Briles departing for South Carolina and Gordon Sammis taking over from UConn. TCU has also hired a new quarterbacks coach, Brad Robbins, who arrives after a stint with Tulsa.
