The transfer portal additions continue to roll in, as the Scarlet Knights have made another offensive addition to the roster. Rutgers has landed the commitment of Ball State transfer tight end Kam Anthony, who brings solid size at 6’4” and 251 pounds.
A native of Fishers, Indiana, Anthony attended and played high school football at Hamilton Southeastern High School and committed to Ball State in the 2024 class. He was a three-star recruit (85) and the #119 tight end in the nation in 2024, according
to Rivals. Anthony visited Rutgers this weekend, which sealed his transfer decision.
Anthony redshirted during his first season with the Cardinals and did not play in any games during the 2024 season. He started every game in 2025, however, and played 461 snaps. He finished the 2025 season with seven receptions for 117 yards and two touchdowns.
After his first career catch went for a touchdown against New Hampshire, Anthony heated up towards the end of the season, catching five of six attempts thrown his way for 112 yards over Ball State’s final four games. He also caught the game-winning 29-yard touchdown pass from Ball State QB Kial Kelly to lift the Cardinals past Kent State.
Both of Rutgers’ top two tight ends from last season, Kenny Fletcher and Colin Weber, have run out of eligibility, making tight end another important position for the Scarlet Knights to replace talent. Rutgers brought in Shawn Bowman at tight end from Maine a few seasons ago, while Weber himself was a Charlotte transfer.
Although Anthony suffered an Achilles injury last month, he is expected to be ready to go before the 2026 season kicks off. Given that and his relative lack of production, the Scarlet Knights are expected to pursue another tight end that could start in Fletcher’s place next season.
