Boston College returns to action looking for a reset when it hosts Fairleigh Dickinson Monday night in a pre-holiday battle.
The Eagles defeated the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights 78-70 on Dec. 28, 2024, the most recent meeting between the programs. In their uneven start to this year’s campaign, BC
has shown offensive upside but are still working through some late-game issues.
BC enters the matchup coming off a narrow 76-74 loss to the UMass Minutemen, a game that again highlighted several challenges down the stretch. The Eagles are also continuing to integrate new frontcourt pieces, a process that has occasionally tested their rhythm on both ends of the floor. Even so, BC’s identity remains clear, with the offense flowing through Donald Hand Jr.
Hand Jr. was dominant in the last season’s meeting with FDU, pouring in a career high of 29 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. That performance earned him ACC Player of the Week honors and made history, as he and his father, Donald Hand Sr., became the first father-son duo to receive the award.
Fairleigh Dickinson arrives in Chestnut Hill riding momentum after a 76-42 home win over the Lehman College Bridges this past Friday. The Knights are fifth in the Northeast Conference, averaging 71.8 points per game. They are led by the scoring punch of senior guard Eric Parnell, who’s averaging 11.1 points per game this season. Road success remains a big hurdle for FDU, who are 0-10 away from home as of late 2024.
Boston College holds a 2-0 edge in the all-time series, with wins back in 1992 and last December, and will look to keep their undefeated record against the Knights intact.
Prediction: Boston College 79, FDU 68
