Triple-A: Charlotte Knights (CWS) 10, Norfolk Tides 6
Juaron Watts-Brown’s final start of the season did not go well. He lasted just three innings and gave up seven runs. The Knights had a four-run first that included a three-run homer. Watts-Brown gave up three more runs in the third inning another home run, plus two walks thrown in. His final line: 3 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 4 BB, 1 K. In 10 games with the Tides, Watts-Brown had a 10.22 ERA.
The bullpen allowed three more runs, but Dietrich Enns and Albert Suárez pitched two scoreless innings apiece. Enns was
perfect with just 23 pitches. Suárez allowed a hit and a walk, but struck out three.
On offense, the Tides had a two-run first inning in a Creed Williams sac fly and Bryan Ramos double, which came after Enrique Bradfield reach on an error and Jud Fabian walked.
In the third inning, Enrique Bradfield manufactured a run almost all on his own. He singled, stole both second and third, and scored on a groundout by Aron Estrada. He had three stolen bases in the game giving him a season total of 44. He’s been caught just six times.
The final three Tides’ runs scored on home runs from Ramos and Sam Huff.
Ramos and Peyton Eelees both had a two-hit game. Estrada and Willems were hitless.
