Sometimes, David beats Goliath, y’all. That is what happened today when the Washington Mystics defeated the New York Liberty, 86-83 on Friday night at Barclays Center.
The most impressive part of this game was the fourth quarter where the Liberty had an 8 point lead at one point. No one would have blamed Washington for letting this game slip away. However, Sonia Citron passed the ball to Kiki Iriafen with less than 30 seconds left to give the Mystics a go ahead basket, and ultimately the dub!
Iriafen led with 20 points tonight while Citron scored 16 points and dished 8 assists. Georgia Amoore also added 10 points and 8 assists. For the Liberty, Leonie Fiebich led with 19 points.
The Mystics’ next game is on Sunday when they continue their road trip to play against the Minnesota Lynx. Tip off is at 6 p.m. ET. See you then.
