Following the opening press conference for Xander Zayas’ title defense against Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, Boots stuck around to field some media questions and was asked about his take on Zayas’ disposition at the press event and what’s to come as the push towards their June 27 fight moves on.
“I know for a fact all this [fight promotion] is going to get to him,’ Boots said. ”He’s going to be burnt out from doing this PPV stuff all day, media, doing this, doing that, fight week is going to drain him. He having
a fat camp right now, he’s like 190 right now. Like, they asked for all this time [until June 27] to fight me. So, all this stuff going to be too much for him.”
Boots would then be asked about what kind of style he expects Zayas to fight him with — something Boots isn’t very worried about.
“I don’t care what he do. It’s nothing really he can do to stop what I got going on right now. Like, I’m super locked-in, super focused, and whatever he brings to the table we’re going to be ready.”
Then, when asked about the possibility of him not getting credit for beating Zayas due to him being only 23, Boots gave this reactions.
“I don’t really care [if I don’t get the credit]. Like, same thing with Stanionis. Everybody was trying to say the fight was 50/50, then when I beat Stanionis everybody was like ‘oh, he’s a bum.’”
