Conor McGregor may not be serious about running for president of Ireland any more, but he’s very serious about fighting at the big UFC White House card as part of the big America 250 celebrations.
That’s according to Dana White, who discussed “The Notorious” and his long-awaited return to competition on a new episode of Impaulsive with Logan Paul.
“So … Conor says he’s coming back,” he said when asked about McGregor. “He’s in the pool. He’s doing his thing. All kinds of footage of him training. He wants
to fight on this White House card. We’ll see. I mean, we won’t start building that card until February.”
“He and I have been talking nonstop,” White added later. “And he’s like, ‘I’m dead serious. I want this. I’m training, I’m back in the pool, I’m doing all the s–t.’ So we’ll see. We’ve still got a long way to go. We still got a long way to go til February when we start making this card. We’ll see how it plays out.”
McGregor has spent the past several months campaigning for the Irish presidency, but pulled out of the race on Sunday (Sept. 14, 2025) rather than return to Ireland to face local councils to argue for their nomination. McGregor needed nominations from 20 of 220 parliamentarians or 4 of 31 councils — not a stiff number even with one of the ruling parties whipping their members to deny independent candidates.
Official polls of Irish citizens had McGregor polling at 7%, not a bad number for an independent. White, ever the promoter, applied some Power Slap math to those numbers.
“All polling says he’s going to win by a landslide,” White said. “All polling says he’s going to crush the election. So they’re doing everything they can to keep him off the ballot.”
The White House card is set to go down at the end of June due to President Donald Trump’s busy schedule Those who are familiar with UFC’s schedule know that the promotion usually has International Fight Week in Las Vegas that week. But this year? White says it goes down in Washington, D.C.
“What I want to do is build the best card we’ve ever built, just make people go crazy,” he said. “Live and free on CBS from the White House. For the people! Even people in other countries are gonna want to see it. And the way we’re doing this thing? When we shoot this fight, this whole backdrop will be the White House. And when the cameras move over and it’s shot this way, it’s all Washington Monument on this side.”
“There’s a park that’s connected to the White House that will have 85,000 people there with big screens, concerts, UFC X there. We’re going to take over D.C.”
