The Seattle Seahawks’ season-opening rematch hasn’t gone as many fans had planned after their starting quarterback, Sam Darnold, went down on the team’s first drive when he was sacked by former Seahawks defensive end, Dre’Mont Jones.
Darnold was officially ruled questionable with a hip injury in the first quarter before the team announced he would not return to the game before halftime. Longtime Seahawks backup Drew Lock has taken over the reins of the offense in Darnold’s absence.
The Seahawks will await the result of Darnold’s hip injury as their season hangs in the balance. If by any chance Lock also gets hurt, then Jalen Milroe would be available as the emergency third-string quarterback.
Seattle has predictably struggled without Darnold at the helm. Drew Lock was 6/8 for 51 yards in the first half but Seattle has not so much as crossed into field goal range, and trail the reigning AFC champion New England Patriots 7-0 at the break.
