Aarón Anselmino might finally be in line for some actual minutes after six months not seeing much action, having completed his loan move to Borussia Dortmund earlier today.
The 20-year-old center back signed with Chelsea last summer, then finished out the 2024 season at Boca Juniors, before joining up with the Blues in January. But he’s made just one appearance since, and that just a last-minute cameo at the Club World Cup.
Dortmund have been hit with several defensive injuries here at the start of
the season, so Anselmino should have a few opportunities to play and impress.
“We were already monitoring Aaron during his time at Boca Juniors. He represents a very good solution in our current situation. He is a talented player who has already proven his quality at a young age in very emotional stadiums. We will now integrate him quickly because we need him immediately and are looking forward to seeing Aaron in the Black & Yellow shirt this season.”

There are no options or obligations or any other future considerations attached to the loan (though BVB’s announcement video plays a cheeky nod on those themes). Anselmino is our fifth international loanee, which means we have just one spot remaining now.
Good luck, A-aron!
