The Buffalo Bills are undefeated heading into their Week 3 matchup with the winless Los Angeles Chargers at Highmark Stadium. On paper, it’s a game that heavily favors Buffalo, thanks largely to a potent offense led by quarterback Josh Allen.
As for the defense? It’s a work in progress, though one that’s already shown an ability to take over a game in the biggest moments. Splash plays are back for the Bills’ defensive front seven, but there are some concerns about the defensive backfield play.
It’s
not that Buffalo lacks playmakers with elite potential, it’s just that new defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard has installed a system that’s taking a bit for defenders to acclimate. Though the defense may give up some yards through the air right now, they’re producing when and where it matters. That isn’t lost on many within Bills Mafia, though they are a bit divided about the defense at present.
The results of our poll earlier this week reveal that 61% of Bills fans are optimistic about the defense through the first two weeks. Meanwhile, 39% of voters remain concerned are watching the first couple games. These are expected results due to the fact that plenty of fans need to see better results to more fully buy in.
As to our latest confidence rating poll, Bills Mafia are riding high. Who can blame them? Josh Allen is playing MVP-level football and the offense has put up at least 36 points in both games to start the 2026 NFL season.
Right now, 93% of Bills fans are confident the team is headed in the right direction under new head coach Joe Brady and president of football operations/general manager Brandon Beane. Once the defense rounds into its expected form under Leonard, the sky might just be this team’s limit.
What about Los Angeles Chargers fans? It’s not good, to be clear. Just 6% of Chargers faithful are confident about the team’s direction. Is this the Mike McDonald effect Bills fans watch unfold down in Miami?
In fairness, the team is in a difficult spot with regards to injuries. Perhaps they find health sooner than later and rebound for a late-season run.
