This is the week the college football world has been waiting for – November 7 is here and its phenomenal.
Top 25 matchups all day long. Leaves falling. Temperatures in the 50’s and 60’s country wide. Spiked apple cider. Camo Busch Light cans. You can turn on your TV, sit on your couch all day, and not have a moment without some college football excitement.
Playoff eliminations are going to happen, and it could mean the end of the road for Ole Miss depending on the outcome of the Georgia game. Undefeated
teams may fall as Miami travels to Notre Dame and UCLA goes up north to a very scrappy Minnesota squad.
The key to a day like Saturday is to have an outdoor TV. You want to be able to get a little fresh air and have something to watch while you fire up the grill. If you want to make some money in the process too, then this is the place for you.
Last week, we went 3-1 again to improve to 21-14 for the season, and on the biggest weekend of the year, we had to look for some value among the sharks in the sportsbooks. A lot of stupid money is out there right now affecting lines all over the place. The news of Malachi Toney being out in the Miami-ND game caused the line to move from -4.5 to -7.5 – does one player have that kind of impact? Likely not but the betting world clearly believed it.
So now here are our locks for week 10 of college football.
CFB Week 10 Locks
- Cincinnati at No. 17 Houston (-10.5) – The Bearcats are playing its third top 25 team in a row, and while their upset of Texas Tech was a big one, I suspect some Auburn energy in this one. Cincy is 0-2 on the road in the Big 12 this season, and Houston still has a chance to win out and get to 10 wins. I think this one is lopsided for the Cougars.
- Rutgers at Wisconsin (-17.5) – Home favorites are where we want to live this week as the season is in the homestretch. Rutgers has looked downright terrible at times this year, and Wisconsin has had a turnaround year overall. Last week’s bomb against Iowa will be long forgotten as the Badgers bust its slump against the Scarlet Knights and cover.
- No. 5 Alabama at No. 14 LSU (-6) – I’m not a believer in Alabama being a playoff team, and the Tide are going to go into Baton Rouge and lose possibly pretty handily. While its not a late kickoff, Tiger fans will still be buzzing, because its a day that ends in y. Bama’s defense may keep Sam Leavitt in check, but his mobility gets LSU to cover a touchdown at home.
- No. 2 Georgia at No. 10 Ole Miss (+3.5) – In Georgia’s only real challenging road game this year, it won 20-17 in Tuscaloosa. The Bulldogs may get a three point win again in Oxford, but with the line at three and a half, we like the Rebels to keep it close and have a hell of a chance to win to keep its playoff hopes alive. Give us one Gunner Stockton fumble and a perfect Trinidad Chambliss game for the W.
