Jake Paul suffered real damage in his first professional knockout loss to Anthony Joshua last night (Fri., Dec. 19, 2025) in their Netflix spectacle (watch it here).
Opposite the former world Heavyweight champion, Paul tried to employ an evasive style, striking in short bursts and using the clinch to stall out Joshua’s big swings. As Paul fatigued, however, he could no longer avoid trading in the pocket with the bigger and better boxer. He swung valiantly, but Joshua started landing hard shots and hurt
Paul repeatedly. Then, a cracking right hand found the target perfectly, and Paul hit the canvas hard.
The ref waved off the fight when Paul regained his foot, but the damage was done. “I think my jaw is broke by the way,” Paul said in the immediate aftermath. “It’s definitely broke.”
Soon afterward, Paul provided a bloody visual as evidence of the damage done. Opening his mouth for the camera, Paul revealed a row of his teeth were pushed in and actively bleeding, reminiscent of the injury Robert Whittaker suffered against Khamzat Chimaev last year.
Some displaced teeth weren’t the full extent of the damage either. Posting his X-Ray images on X shortly after the bout, Paul revealed that his jaw has been broken in two separate places. Despite all the damage, Paul still wants to return quickly and has his eyes set on Canelo Alvarez.
For a long time, boxing and MMA fans have been waiting for somebody to shut up Jake Paul — a broken jaw and shattered teeth definitely count! Hopefully, this also shuts down the idea that Paul was paying opponents to take it easy on him. Clearly, Joshua wasn’t holding back, and Paul will have several uncomfortable months to consider if he truly wants to get back in the ring against another elite boxer.
I would imagine a Tommy Fury rematch suddenly sounds a lot more appealing.
