Don’t tell me that the U isn’t a brand. The numbers don’t lie.
The Miami Hurricanes were before the nation’s eyes in the morning and evening last Saturday, and boy, how there were plenty of eyeballs on them.
According to the Miami Hurricanes’ official twitter/X account, College Gameday from Coral Gables was the second most watched regular season show EVER for the program.
Off the top of my head, I’m guessing that Corso’s final show last month was the biggest, and understandably so. He’s one of the foundations of the show.
But man, think about all the enormous games that have taken place over the years. All the rivalries and top 10 matchups, with some 1 vs. 2 clashes. And little ol’ Miami and Coral Gables posted up as the second-most watched regular season show in the program’s more than three decade run.
Of course, Miami put on a show the last time ESPN brought their premier pregame show on campus in November 2017 when Notre Dame came to town. It was a spectacle, and Miami delivered then with the atmosphere on campus and at Hard Rock, just as they did last weekend. Oh, and someone else from the Gameday crew went off the high dive. It was David Pollack back then; this year it was, of course, Pat McAfee.
It’s just further proof that people care – love them or hate them – when the Miami Hurricanes are back. And hopefully 2025 is finally the year that oft-repeated phrase is true.
