In “obscure, but of interest to us” news, Portland Trail Blazers wing Toumani Camara has broken the record for offensive fouls drawn in a single season after taking his 100th charge against the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday night.
The previous record of 99 was held by the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Anderson Varejao, set in the 2006-2007 season. The NBA began tracking the stat in the 2005-2006 campaign.
In the same contest, Camara also became the fourth player in Blazers history to hit 200 threes in a single
season, joining Damian Lillard (8x), Anfernee Simons (2x), and Wesley Matthews (1x).
Camara has been an ironman for the Blazers, appearing in all 78 games this season. In those games, he has averaged 13.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.28 offensive fouls drawn, and 1.1 steals on 36% shooting from deep. Camara has also been shooting over 52% from deep on 8 attempts over his last 7 games.
