After the 2025 ADCC East Coast Trials concluded this past weekend in Florida, five more tournament winners have officially earned invites to the ADCC 2026 World Championships.
The next generation of Brazilian
jiu-jitsu (BJJ) champions took center stage at the event, with two of the youngest competitors on the event proving they’re not just prospects anymore.
Young grapplers Olivarez, Rocha among biggest winners at 2025 ADCC East Coast Trials
Hundreds of high level BJJ competitors battled for just five slots, and the biggest standout from the tournament was Dorian Olivarez, who won an incredibly stacked bracket of over 140 grapplers. Olivarez won seven matches in a really deep division, taking three submissions and beating the likes of Gavin Corbe, Reese Lafever, and Julian Espinosa as he clinched his spot on ADCC 2026.
With the win, the 20-year-old Olivarez now becomes a two-time ADCC trials winner and follows up on his impressive CJI 2 performance that saw the 66 kg grappler run circles around bigger men, like reigning +99 kg ADCC champ Felipe Pena.
Olivarez won the finals by outpointing Filipino grappler Corbe, who also had an impressive run of his own. Corbe won six matches, and pulled off some impressive upsets over more experienced BJJ champions like Gianni Grippo and Keith Krikorian as he took silver in the division.
Achilles Rocha, the son of UFC vet and BJJ champ Vagner Rocha, also won his first major tournament as a professional. Interestingly enough, the 19-year-old BJJ prodigy achieved this after bulking up and moving a division higher to win gold at 99 kg.
Wrestling champ Brandon Reed, who has been competing in CJI and other BJJ events in recent years, secured a major title as he won gold at the over 99 kg division.
Ana Mayordomo, Mo Black win ADCC East Coast Trials, but still no invites for women
The ADCC East Coast Trials hosted women’s tournaments again, but their smaller brackets meant that invites are only handed out on the second leg of each regional Trials events. These someone outdated ADCC rules can also lead to peculiar results, like how 55 kg winner Ana Mayordomo — who holds dual US and Spain passports — can become a two-time ADCC Trials winner without securing an official invite to ADCC 2026.
Mayordomo has won ADCC EMEA Trials and the ADCC East Coast trials in the last two months. It’s an impressive addition to the rising star’s quickly growing resume, but unlike her male counterparts, she will likely have to win an unprecedented third ADCC trials gold medal within a year to actually secure an invite.
Also winning ADCC Trials on this event are Mo Black and Maia Matalon, but they will also need to win another ADCC Trials leg to secure an invite.
ADCC could also arbitrarily choose to send them official invites outright, but this all seems like an unnecessary complication, when they can simply host equal sized brackets and have the same rules for men and women.
