AEW star MVP really doesn’t like WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque. In fact, MVP would love to slap the shit out of him. With that in mind, it’s not surprising to see that MVP took more shots at The Game on the latest episode of Marking Out with MVP & Dwayne Swayze.
During the course of the show, a question came up about whether a wrestler who knows how to make other stars is more valuable than a wrestler who only knows how to get himself over. In answering the question, MVP cited
The Undertaker as a top guy in WWE who has a long list of other stars he helped get over, including terrible workers like “The not-so-Great Khali.”
On the other side of the coin is Triple H:
“How many people do you remember The Nose getting over? Triple H, in his career…I’ll give you two. I’ll give you Randy [Orton]. I’ll give you Batista. Take them away, who else can you remember Triple Nose getting over?”
When Jeff Hardy’s name was brought up as a possibility for Triple H’s list, MVP shot that down real quick by describing Triple H’s dick move that sounds like it belongs in Hulk Hogan’s playbook.
“I remember the finish. Because it was a three count, and he sat up smiling, like gosh, golly, he got me. Not, boom, oh man, I’m hurt…he wouldn’t even give that to Jeff Hardy.”
MVP concluded that it’s easy to see which type of wrestler is more valuable:
“Triple H. Top guy, drew a lot of money, was a player.
Undertaker. Top Guy, drew a lot of money, was a player.
If Undertaker made, let’s just say for the sake of our conversation, in the course of his career, 10 other guys. And The Nose got two or three other guys over, that he elevated them. In the big scheme of things, the big picture, who was more valuable for the company? The guy who was a top guy who knew how to get himself over AND get other people over.”
MVP then joked about how he envisions the way Triple H played backstage politics when Vince McMahon would ask him to lose and put someone else over.
“I’m gonna guess then when that conversation was had [Triple H said], ‘Well you know, Vince, I was thinking maybe he’s not ready yet.’ But that’s how The Game goes.”
MVP may be exaggerating Triple H’s futility in getting others over, but I’m certainly with him on the idea that Triple H is overrated when it comes to the list of top stars in WWE history. Triple H’s Reign of Terror circa 2003 was dreadful enough to permanently damage his reputation in my eyes, when it comes to being a shitty top guy in WWE.
Who else would you add to the list of stars that Triple H helped get over in WWE besides Randy Orton and Batista? Does The Undertaker really blow him away in that regard? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
