It’s Super Bowl week, which means it is time for the annual EA Sports Madden NFL 26 Simulation of the big game.
Since EA Sports has correctly predicted the Super Bowl winner the past two seasons, this year’s prediction between is the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots is especially noteworthy.
This year, Madden predicts a dominant first half of the game for the Seahawks, with an early touchdown pass from quarterback Sam Darnold to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, followed by a second touchdown pass by Darnold to Cooper
Kupp. On defense, Seattle holds the Patriots to only 3 points.
However, the momentum shifts in the second half as Madden predicts a strong comeback by New England with Drake Maye leading a scoring drive ending in a touchdown to Kayshon Boutte. This is followed up by a defensive score on an A.J. Barner fumble return for a touchdown by Christian Gonzalez. Entering the fourth quarter, the game is tied 17-17.
After a back-and-forth final quarter, the Patriots are up 20-17. However, the Patriots leave 42 seconds on the clock for Darnold to lead a potential Super Bowl winning drive. On this final drive, Darnold orchestrates a drive that gets the Seahawks in scoring position, down within the five-yard line (sound familiar?). Head Coach, Mike Macdonald could choose to kick a field goal and send the game into overtime. However, he decides to go for the win. This time, Seattle decides to run the ball on the final play of the game, leading Kenneth Walker III to reach out over the goal line for the game-winning touchdown as time expires.
The Seahawks win the Super Bowl 23-20, with Darnold earning a Super Bowl MVP, going 26 for 36, for 289 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 0 interceptions.
