The Seattle Seahawks are on the search for a new offensive coordinator (again), only this time it’s because Klint Kubiak was so good that it netted him a head coaching job. One candidate being looked at comes
from the Arizona Cardinals.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport wrote on Friday that the Seahawks will meet with 30-year-old pass game specialist Conner Senger. He’s Seattle’s first known external OC candidate.
Senger’s entire NFL career has been spent with Arizona, having joined the team under Kliff Kingsbury in 2022 as part of the Bill Bidwill Coaching Fellowship. He served as a quality control coach in year one under Jonathan Gannon, switched to assistant QBs coach in 2024, then transitioned to pass game specialist in Gannon’s unceremonious farewell season.
I’m going to burst the bubble right away: Seattle wants to make an internal promotion to replace Kubiak. The Rooney Rules requires the Seahawks to interview two minority candidates from outside the organization for a coordinator position. Senger is the first, we’re TBD on the second, but both Senger and TBD have functionally zero chance at getting the job. This isn’t to be dismissive of Senger’s qualifications, but the minute it was reported the Seahawks were closing in on an internal hire it instantly rendered any external interest as merely procedural.
As an aside, the Cardinals will not be hiring Seahawks defensive backs coach Karl Scott as defensive coordinator after interviewing him earlier in the week. They have opted to retain Nick Rallis from Gannon’s staff.
