It’s finally here! After what seems like years, the Spurs play a game that counts in the standing tonight, and it’s a widely anticipated matchup between the top two draft picks in the league, with Cooper Flagg on the Mavs facing Dylan Harper on the Spurs. With De’Aaron Fox still out of the lineup recovering from a hamstring issue, we should see a lot of Harper tonight, along with last year’s rookie of the year, Stephon Castle. Of course, the player that everyone wants to see is Victor Wembanyama, who is poised to have the best season in his already stellar career. His preseason was marred by turnovers and some overly ambitions ball handling, and we may see more of that tonight, or maybe he will morph in the more efficient version of himself, regular season Wemby. Whichever Wemby we see tonight, it’s going to be exciting to watch.
With so many new faces on the team, it may take a bit of time for the Mitch Johnson’s plan to come together, but it’s hard to be pessimistic after an undefeated preseason where the Silver and Black looked like contenders. Unfortunately for the Spurs record, the Loong-Lions aren’t on the menu for the regular season, but they also looked very solid against NBA competition, and soundly defeated the Pacers, both on the road and in San Antonio. The Mavericks provide the first real test for the Silver and Black tonight, and we’ll see whether they can stay undefeated in the month of October 2025. It’s a late start tonight, so you might want to brew up a pot of coffee to sip in front of the TV tonight as you watch this awesome matchup on ESPN.
Game Prediction:
Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper will arm wrestle for the early lead for ROTY at half court during the game.
