The Kansas City Royals added another reliever to the 40-man roster when they traded for Easton McGee from the Milwaukee Brewers.
To make room for McGee on the 40-man roster, the Royals transferred right-handed pitcher Nick Mears to the 60-day Injured List.
McGee, 28, had two stints with the Brewers this season, from April 10-17 and May 1-3, and appeared in 2 games with the big league club, recording 2.0 scoreless innings with 1 strikeout. His other 25 appearances (4 starts) this year came with Triple-A
Nashville, where he pitched to a 5.62 ERA (26 ER in 41.2 IP) with 43 strikeouts (22.5 K%).
Since the start of 2025, he’s gone 9-2 with a 4.53 ERA (45 ER in 89.1 IP) with Triple-A Nashville, while holding opponents to a .239 batting average (83-for-347).
Royals’ 16th-rounder Dylan Alonso already has a coaching inroad, according to a list of fun facts about each Kansas City draftee this year.
Many MLB pitchers are secretive about their tools of the trade. But Alonso is willing to pass on the knowledge that made him a successful college pitcher through “Alonso Velocity Lab”, an app/website created by the Alonso to give up-and-coming pitchers the resources they need to get recruited at the college level. For $25 a month, athletes get access to a velocity and strength tracker, a personalized NCAA timeline to track improvement and an AI device that helps write recruiting emails to send to college coaches. For $50 a month, users have access to Alonso’s weekly throwing and workout program, and for $350 a month, customers get weekly one-on-one video coaching sessions from Alonso himself.
Kansas City Star’s Pete Grathoff looks back at some social media confusion.
Jake Rill, who is the Orioles reporter for MLB.com, shared those comments from Pasquantino on X, and Alexander saw it. “Weird take.. Never thought it was intentional but the 2 quick pitches to try and catch me off guard led to me now missing games,” Alexander wrote. “Thanks for the compliments tho Big Foot👍🏼.” Again, there needs to be some perspective here. Pasquantino undoubtedly would have had a much different take on the incident had he known about Alexander’s injury. And, so, Alexander’s message on social media lacks context.
Bleacher Report’s latest farm system rankings put Kansas City 25th, with Zion Rose and Taylor Rabe sitting sixth and 10th in the system, respectively.
He might have looked like a reach relative to pre-draft rankings, but Rose could be one minor swing tweak away from being a 30/30 threat. Currently a line-drive hitter, he batted .417/.491/.646 with 20 extra-base hits and 24 steals in 36 games at Louisville, and he has the strength in his 6’1″, 200-pound frame to be a serious power threat.
