NC State had seven players taken during the MLB Draft over the weekend, with most of them scattered to the winds of the National League. Not surprisingly, it was Ty Head who hopped off the board first, going to the Orioles with the No. 46 overall pick.
The slot value of that selection is north of $2 million, so Head’s due a nice payday. Jacob Dudan was next, going to the A’s in the third round. He still has a lengthy road back from Tommy John surgery, but at least the injury didn’t completely destroy
his draft stock.
Ryan Marohn and Luke Nixon both went in the fifth round—Marohn to the Pirates, Nixon to the Giants. Sherman Johnson earned himself a selection by the Reds in the seventh round, while Cooper Consiglio went to the Phillies in the ninth, and Chris McHugh went to the Padres in the 11th.
Marohn and Nixon are looking at bonuses in the $500k range, while Dudan’s slot value is $989k.
