A week removed from the biggest win of his boxing career after defeating Mario Barrios to become the new WBC Welterweight champion of the world (highlights here), Ryan Garcia had to deal with a domestic issue after someone attempted to break into his Los Angeles residence.
Per a report from TMZ, an unidentified person hopped his fence on the night of Feb. 26 an and attempted to enter his home. Thankfully, the perpetrator didn’t make it too far as cops arrived on the scene to find the would-be burglar
gone. While there was security guard at the residence at the time of the incident, there is no word if “King Ry” was inside his home.
Garcia’s win over Barrios was much-needed as he was coming off an upset loss at the hands of Rolando Romero in May 2025, prompting many critics to wonder where exactly the boxing superstar’s head was at following his roller-coaster ordeal with Devin Haney. Garcia put all of those doubts to rest by dominating Barrios with a masterful performance over the course of 12 rounds which saw him drop “El Azteca” early in round one.
With the win, Garcia’s stock gets a huge bump and sets him up for bigger and better fights that come along with massive paydays. One of the bouts that could be on the burner is a major bout against Shakur Stevenson, the current WBO and The Ring Junior Welterweight champion of the world who is coming off a huge win over Teofimo Lopez last month.
There is also the chance of booking a rematch against the aforementioned Devin Haney, who Garcia defeated in April 2024 before his win was overturned to a No Contest (NC) after a drug-test fiasco that resulted in a one-year suspension for the speedy boxer.
