The Cleveland Browns are 1-2 going into Week 4’s matchup against the Detroit Lions with some momentum and optimism. The Browns comeback win against the Green Bay Packers has changed the conversations,
at least for now, around the team, similar to how K Andre Szymt went from “cut him” to “crown him” AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Still a lot of concerns around Cleveland’s offense, which has been carried by one of the best defenses in the NFL, especially with OT Dawand Jones being lost for the season. NFL trade rumors are already swirling as signing OT Thayer Munford Jr. might help in the future and with depth, but it does not solve the line’s problems with any level of certainty.
According to ESPN, Browns GM Andrew Berry has already started making trade calls:
And Cleveland — whose general manager, Andrew Berry, is never afraid to put together a deal — needs offensive tackle help because of a season-ending knee injury to left tackle Dawand Jones. The Browns are looking at options there.
It is hard to imagine any team being willing to give up on even decent offensive tackles at this point in the season. It is possible that this could change, especially for the six winless teams left in the NFL:
- Miami Dolphins
- New York Jets
- Houston Texans
- Tennessee Titans
- New York Giants
- New Orleans Saints
A front office or head coaching change, or both, could lead to an openness to move on from either aging veterans or players about to reach free agency. Of course, the Browns will have to keep winning some games, or they will be more likely to be added to the sellers’ list as we approach the November 4th NFL trade deadline.
Cleveland was lauded in the same ESPN piece for their stellar 2025 NFL draft class, with an interesting note added about UDFA WR Isaiah Bond:
And remember I told you last week about undrafted wide receiver Isaiah Bond, whose playing time has increased every week. I definitely believe he will end up being a factor in the Browns’ passing game before this season is out.
Bond was already on the field for 43 snaps in Week 3, significantly more than Jamari Thrash and only six snaps behind Cedric Tillman.
Do you think the Browns should be looking to trade for an offensive tackle? Do you think they’ll be able to find one of significance in a trade or will it just be rumors leading up to the deadline?
