The New Orleans Saints have now won three straight games after taking down the New York Jets on Sunday at Caesars Superdome in the final home game of the 2025 NFL season.
The breakout player from the Saints’
victory over the Jets put together arguably the best performance of his impressive rookie campaign: S Jonas Sanker.
The 23-year-old third-round pick out of Virginia continues to open eyes after turning in what many would say was his best performance in Black and Gold through 15 games.
On Sunday against the Jets, Sanker recorded six total tackles (one solo) and was targeted just twice in pass coverage. He did not allow a single reception, breaking up one pass and snagging the other for his second career interception—his three takeaways on the year are the most by a Saints rookie since CB Paulson Adebo in 2021. He also finished the day with a team-high and career-high 92.2 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, including a 90.1 coverage grade.
Sanker, fellow rookie fourth-round cornerback Quincy Riley, and second-year cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry have quickly developed into a solid trio for a young Saints secondary. A unit many entered the season viewing as a weakness has instead given the fanbase plenty of hope heading into the future.
