A new featherweight fight has been added to UFC 320 with one-time interim title challenger Josh Emmett taking on Youssef Zalal on the card taking place Oct. 4 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The matchup was announced during the UFC Shanghai broadcast on Saturday.
A stalwart in the featherweight rankings, Emmett attempts to get back on track when he returns to action in October following a decision loss to Lerone Murphy in his last outing. Overall Emmett has gone just 1-3 in his past four fights,
although his additional losses came to former featherweight champion Ilia Topuria and interim champ Yair Rodriguez.
In the middle of that run, Emmett scored one of the most devastating knockouts in UFC history when he demolished Bryce Mitchell back in 2023.
As for Zalal, he’ll take a big step forward in his career while looking to build on a seven fight win streak in the 145-pound division. Most recently, Zalal picked up a decision win over Calvin Kattar after his previous six wins all came by knockout or submission.
Emmett vs. Zalal joins the lineup at UFC 320 with a new main card officially revealed for the show with a pair of title fights at the top as Magomed Ankalaev faces Alex Pereira with the light heavyweight strap going up for grabs, while Merab Dvalishvili defends his bantamweight championship against Cory Sandhagen.
