Chicago Bears rookie defensive tackle Jordan van den Berg has been a training camp sensation so far, and he flashed in the preseason opener too, so for her latest Making Monsters podcast, Taylor Doll wanted to learn more about him and his introduction to football.
Parker Conley was van den Berg’s football coach for all 3 years of his high school career at Providence Christian Academy in Lilburn, Georgia, and Coach Conley was excited to talk about one of his former players.
We’ve heard van den Berg
discuss his enjoyment of being violent on the football field, but there’s also this.
“He’s one of the most incredible people I’ve ever met, and every time I talk to him, it still feels like it’s a high school kid talking to this coach,” Conley said. “Just incredibly respectful. He is just such a kind-hearted individual that cares about others. Loves his family, loves his friends, extremely loyal, and can turn it on, and I think that’s a beautiful thing for a football player to be able to have that, you know, that incredible work ethic and respect of his peers, because of who he is as a person and then to have the same thing as a violent competitor or strong football player. All he knows is putting in work, and like I said, it’s 100%. It doesn’t matter if it’s him in the weight room, or if it’s him in meetings, he is putting every aspect of his being into it.”
