Well, one of the nearly endless head coach opportunities is reportedly off the books.
Adam Schefter is reporting that though ink has not not been put to paper, the New York Giants and John Harbaugh are in agreement. All expectations are that the Man Without A Job for roughly 192 hours has found a new home in the same zip code.
The distance from Baltimore to Pittsburgh is almost exactly the same as it is from Baltimore to New York, for anyone who wanted that random nugget.
If not, here’s a better one!
Both Harbaugh brothers will face the Seattle Seahawks next year. In Seattle, no less.
That’s right, the 2026 home opponents include both the Los Angeles Chargers and the New York Giants. No dates yet obviously, but the Seahawks get to play two dynamic quarterbacks led by two of the game’s more historic coaches.
That is, unless Jaxson Dart is dealing with another concussion.
It’s not the most common occurrence, either. Next season, the NFC gets the honors of AFC West and NFC East, so the entire conference will take on both teams. Only the Los Angeles Rams join Seattle in hosting the brethren duo.
Unlike the Rams, however, only the Seahawks lay claim to John’s former protegé in Mike Macdonald – the guy that Ravens fans are besides themselves at not being able to currently hire. Now, neither guy coaches for Baltimore and both of them will lead their teams to first in their division next season. I said it.
This is also news for another reason. Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak had interviewed with the Giants last week. The entire field was (at least they should have been) aware that they take a back seat to Harbaugh, and probably Mike Tomlin as well should he be interested. Now that the kingpin has committed, it may kick off the rest of the coaching carousel. And with 9 total openings this year, there’s still a ton left to figure out.
This is also news for another reason!! Unless something changes, Jay Harbaugh will coach against his dad and uncle next season as well.
Football is fun.
