After the second week of college football, take a look at how teams on Purdue’s schedule did:
Ball State Cardinals (0-2)
Lost 42-3 at Auburn
Last year, Ball State was near the bottom of the MAC and FBS as a whole. They appear to to be in a similar spot this year.
Southern Illinois Salukis (1-1)
Lost 34-17 at Purdue
SIU came out firing against Purdue. Unfortunately for the Salukis, Purdue fired back.
USC Trojans (2-0) Won 59-20 vs Georgia Southern Offense: elite. Defense: good. Competition level: weak.
We should learn a lot about the Trojans this week in a road conference game.
#9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (0-1)
BYE week
Perks of making your own schedule: you can schedule a bye week after the first game. I find it dumb still.
#11 Illinois Fighting Illini (2-0)
Won 45-19 at Duke
A massive win on the road for the fighting Illini who are trying to break into the room with the contenders.
Minnesota Golden Gophers (2-0)
Won 66-0 vs Northwestern State
Say what you will about playing an FCS school, being up 59-0 at half is impressive against anyone.
Northwestern Wildcats (1-1)
Won 42-7 vs Western Illinois
The Wildcats took out some frustration on the Leathernecks but lost Cam Porter for the season in the process. More weight just fell onto Preston Stone’s shoulders, who bounced back with a solid game.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights (2-0)
Won 45-17 vs Miami (OH)
2 MAC wins has Rutgers a third of the way to bowl eligibility. This game went much smoother for the Scarlet Knights.
#15 Michigan Wolverines (1-1)
Lost 24-13 at Oklahoma
The offense looked out of sorts apart from Justice Haynes and Bryce Underwood has a lot to learn still.
#1 Ohio State Buckeyes (2-0)
Won 70-0 vs Grambling State
As expected. Next.
Washington Huskies (2-0)
Won 70-10 vs UC Davis
We don’t learn much about teams in these matchups but we learned that Jonah Coleman is the back that Washington needs.
#23 Indiana Hoosiers (1-0)
Won 56-9 vs Kennesaw State
The offense didn’t kick into high gear until the third quarter but 35 points in the second half won’t be frowned upon.
