The Chicago Bears have three players on the Physically Unable to Perform list (PUP): cornerback Kyler Gordon, linebacker Noah Sewell, and defensive lineman Shemar Turner. Today was the first day they could have their 21-day practice window open to ensure they could play in Week 5, which is the earliest a player starting the season on the PUP list could be activated.
Head coach Ben Johnson announced today that Sewell (Achilles) and Turner (knee) would both be back at practice today. The Bears will
be able to evaluate them, and if they are ready, they can be activated to the 53-man roster at any point before the 21 days expire. If they can’t return, then they’ll be moved to season-ending injured reserve.
Regarding Gordon (calf), Johnson said, “I’ve got nothing to add there.”
Also today, Johnson announced that starting cornerback Tyrique Stavenson is week-to-week with a hamstring injury.
He was also asked about Ozzy Trapilo returning to the field for gameday, saying, “I think he is still gaining confidence to put his entire weight on it. It won’t be too long before we can get him back out there.” He added Ozzy will practice in full again today.
With Caleb Williams (hamstring) and Tyson Bagent (concussion) both possibly out, Johnson said they will not add another quarterback to the roster. So, if those two can’t go, it’ll be Case Keenum and Miller Moss elevated from the practice squad.
