Jamal Musiala saw his ankle twist a way it was never supposed to after a collision with Gianluigi Donnarumma on July 5th, 2025. Over 9 months later, the Bayern Munich and Germany star is still working on making his way back to full fitness. His latest set back saw him removed from Bayern’s Champions League Round of 16 match against Atalanta Bergamo due to what was later deemed a “pain reaction” by Bayern and head coach Vincent Kompany, a set back that saw him not only miss the next 3 matches but
forced him to miss Germany’s matches during the March international break.
Deciding on sitting out the international break was not easy, not just for Bayern’s #10 but also for Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann. But, in an exchange with Kompany, the decision was made. Asked about these exchanges, the Belgian coach emphasized his good relationship with the Germany boss.
“We exchange information, that’s perfectly normal. We have the same goal with Jamal Musiala,” Kompany explained, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “We want him to be fit, that’s good for us and the national team. When we talk on the phone, we exchange information so that the national team coach can make his decisions. We have a good relationship.”
Now Musiala is fit and ready to play again. With just around 2 months before the World Cup starts and many crucial games for Bayern on the horizon, Nagelsmann and Kompany will both hope the 23-year-old will play his way into form and fitness quite quickly.
