Every season brings a different debate around who deserves to be called Bayern Munich’s player of the year. Sometimes it is the obvious superstar putting up historic numbers, while other years it is the reliable veteran or defensive leader quietly holding everything together. This season feels like one of the more interesting discussions in recent memory because several players have strong arguments.
The first and most obvious name is Harry Kane. Bayern Munich’s attack once again revolved around the
English striker, who consistently delivered goals in the biggest moments. Whether it was Bundesliga matches, Champions League nights, or games where Bayern Munich simply needed someone to take control, Kane provided that calming presence in front of goal. Beyond the scoring numbers, his link-up play, passing, and leadership elevated the attack as a whole. For many supporters, the best player on the team is usually the one who can decide a match with a single touch, and Kane did that repeatedly throughout the campaign.
Then there is Michael Olise, who quickly became one of the most exciting players in the squad. Olise brought creativity, flair, and unpredictability every time he stepped onto the pitch. His ability to beat defenders one-on-one added a different dimension to Bayern Munich’s attack, especially in matches where the offense looked stagnant. Just as importantly, he consistently created chances for teammates while also contributing goals himself. There were stretches of the season where he looked like Bayern’s most dangerous attacking player altogether, and his impact made him one of the breakout stars of the year.
Another interesting candidate is Luis Díaz. His pace, pressing, and direct style gave Bayern Munich another weapon in transition and helped stretch opposing defenses. Díaz brought energy to the attack and often changed the rhythm of games with his aggressive runs and relentless work rate. Even when he was not scoring, his movement and intensity created opportunities for others. Bayern Munich has long valued wingers who can combine technical quality with relentless effort, and Díaz embodied that throughout the season.
Defensively, Dayot Upamecano deserves serious recognition. Bayern Munich’s season could have looked very different without him anchoring the back line. His physicality, recovery speed, and composure in difficult moments helped stabilize the defense during stretches where injuries and inconsistency created problems. Center-backs rarely get the same attention as attacking stars, but Upamecano’s importance became obvious whenever he was absent.
Finally, there is Joshua Kimmich, who once again served as the heartbeat of the squad. Whether playing in midfield or dropping deeper to help build attacks, Kimmich remained central to everything Bayern Munich wanted to do. His passing range, intensity, leadership, and experience kept the team organized during difficult moments. Even in seasons filled with new stars, Kimmich continues to be one of the club’s most indispensable players.
Those are just a few of the strongest candidates, but who gets your vote for Bayern Munich’s player of the season and why?
