Basketball season officially starts tonight if you’re a Purdue men’s basketball fan. The team is situated in Las Vegas and is awaiting their first tipoff of the season against Gonzaga. Gonzaga is #15 in the preseason rankings while Purdue is unranked. It’s an unusal situation for the Boilermakers but it should make for a very good challenge for this team. I talk about my expectations for this season and give you my worst case scenario as well as my actual expectations.
Then, I look back at the weekend
loss to Penn State. The Purdue defense truly is the Rodney Dangerfield of the Big Ten. No respect. However, unlike Rodney Dangerfield the lack of respect is perfectly justified. Look no further than the series in the first half where Penn State went for a 4th and one on their own 28. Hard to get more disrespectful to your opponent’s defense than that. Things have to improve for this team if they want to win even one more game this season.
