The Wisconsin Badgers gotten an offensive line commitment over the weekend from Oklahoma State transfer Austin Plawecki, who projects as the team’s new starting center.
But they had yet to get a commitment
from an Arkansas Razorbacks offensive lineman. New offensive line coach Eric Mateos had come from Arkansas, and several Razorback offensive linemen were expected to visit Madison.
Well, the team got their first commitment from an Arkansas player and it’s a big one: promising freshman offensive lineman Blake Cherry.
Cherry, a three-star recruit in the Class of 2025, played in all 12 games for Arkansas this past season, seeing time as a backup, but also mainly on special teams. He was considered one of Arkansas’s up-and-coming lineman for the future, and was lauded for his footwork.
Standing 6’5, 316 pounds, the Oklahoma native will have three years of eligibility left and is now the second offensive lineman to commit to Wisconsin, with more expected to come.
The Badgers were expected to add both youth and experience in the offensive line room in the transfer portal this offseason after signing just one lineman in their 2026 recruiting class: four-star interior offensive lineman Brady Bekkenhuis.
Fellow Arkansas freshman transfer offensive lineman L.J. Prudhomme is also visiting Wisconsin and could be another candidate to follow Mateos to Madison.
