The New York Jets traded cornerback Michael Carter II and a 2027 seventh round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for wide receiver John Metchie III and a 2027 sixth
round pick. The Jets seem to prefer Jarvis Brownlee at slot cornerback. Since Carter can’t play outside cornerback, that made him an expensive and expendable piece. The Jets need help at wide receiver, so maybe Metchie can help there, though his track record in the last four years suggests he’s a long shot to produce much. Moving up from a 7th to a 6th round pick is nice, but depending on how bad the Jets are in 2026, the move up may be smaller than you think.
