The Wisconsin Badgers are back in action on Thursday, taking on the Providence Friars in the Rady Children’s Invitational in San Diego.
The Badgers, 4-1, are coming off a 28-point loss to the No. 9 BYU
Cougars, where they were thoroughly outplayed in both halves. Wisconsin shot an abysmal 7/29 from three, struggled to defend at all levels, and had one too many cold stretches.
It was Wisconsin’s first true test of the season after four relatively simple games, where they averaged over 93 points per contest and were winning by an average margin of 28 points.
Now, the Badgers will look to bounce back against the Providence Friars, who have started the year 4-2. The Friars have beaten Holy Cross, New Hampshire, Penn, and Penn State, while suffering losses to Virginia Tech and Colorado.
Providence’s defense has been the issue, as it’s allowed 82.5 points per game, while averaging 93.5 points on its own. Senior Jason Edwards has been the leader, averaging nearly 20 points a contest, while shooting 44.3 percent from the field.
Should they win, the Badgers would face the winner of TCU and Florida in the championship game, giving them another Power 5 non-conference opportunity.
