As Kentuckians trade the dense, humid air of summer for crisp fall temps, football remains in the air around the Commonwealth.
After several lackluster seasons, first-year head coach Will Stein has wasted no time igniting a fiery excitement within the passionate Kentucky Football fanbase.
Currently sitting with a 3-1 record and ranked 24th in the country in the latest AP Top 25 Poll, the Cats are starting to make noise nationally. The college football media is clearly beginning to take notice of Stein’s
early success in the SEC, but more importantly, high-profile recruits are following along as well, setting the stage for potentially signing some top-tier talent in the next cycle and beyond.
One of the best 2028 players in high school football is Kellan Hall of Louisville Christian Academy, who holds offers from some of the top programs in America, including Ohio State, Georgia, Texas, Oregon, Michigan, Notre Dame, LSU, and Oklahoma, the latter being the presumed favorite for some time now.
However, heads turned on Monday when a prediction was entered for Hall favoring Kentucky.
Steve Wiltfong of Rivals changed his pick to favor UK with a 60% confidence level. Clearly, there was enough significance to the events of the weekend that it made Wiltfong feel strongly enough about putting Kentucky in the driver’s seat for Kellan Hall.

It’s time to move my prediction from Oklahoma to Kentucky for the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect and Rivals Industry’s No. 1 defensive lineman Kellan Hall. Sources with knowledge of the recruitment indicate that the the Wildcats are running at the top for Hall. From the relationship with Coach Will Stein and his staff, to the trajectory of the program and of course the modern recruiting element and money involved there, Big Blue Nation has put themselves in great position to ultimately sign the Louisville (Ky.) Christian Academy.
There’s no doubt that it’d be monumental if ink ever hit paper and Hall became a Wildcat. However, there’s a long way to go in this recruitment, being that he’s still two years away from making it to a college campus.
For now, though, there’s nothing wrong with being happy that Stein is in the kitchen cooking and the top recruits seem interested in the idea of joining him in Lexington.
This was significant news because not only is Hall a coveted local player, but he’s also a 6-4, 265-pound monster defensive lineman who boasts an impressive composite 5-star ranking. He’s also ranked third overall by ESPN and fourth overall by Rivals.
Rarely has there ever been a Bluegrass prospect viewed this highly, which illustrates just how special of a player Hall is expected to become.
