In Germany’s revenge match against Greece, the overall product was better but still resulted in another clean sheet for Konstantinos Tzolakis and his defense. Germany dominated possession, applied constant pressure, and allowed Jonas Urbig to claim a clean sheet of his own. Aleksandar Pavlović, Florian Wirtz, and Tom Bischof impressed again, but the final touch was still missing.
On the bright side, Germany still has decent control of its own destiny within the group. Goal differential might come
into play, but wins over Serbia and the Netherlands in November will likely send them into the quarterfinal stage instead of sliding into the relegation playoff.
Undoubtedly, Jürgen Klopp will carry a tighter roster into the November matches. The defensive issues from the Julian Nagelsmann era seem less pressing, but Klopp will need to figure out a way to squeeze goals out of this current crop of players. Three goals in four matches simply is not good enough for Germany to compete in major tournaments.
