The “Lion of Atlas” is finally here.
Former two-division KSW champion Salahdine Parnasse makes his highly anticipated Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut against New Zealand madman Dan Hooker in the UFC Paris main event this weekend (Sat., Sept. 5, 2026) inside Accor Arena in Paris, France.
For years, Parnasse was widely considered one of the best fighters in the world outside UFC. The French Lightweight could have entered the Octagon much earlier, but he wanted to be compensated properly, and
UFC was not willing to meet his asking price at the time.
Instead, Parnasse signed a lucrative contract to remain with longtime promotion KSW, where he continued winning fights, collecting championships and building his reputation.
Earlier this year, Parnasse competed at MVP MMA 1, making his first appearance on American soil against Kenny Cross. He absolutely shined, folding Cross with a vicious body shot in the opening round.
Shortly afterward, UFC finally came correct with the money, and Parnasse signed with the promotion.
At 28 years old and with 25 professional fights behind him, Parnasse believes everything happened exactly when it was supposed to.
“I want to show all of my talent and everything I can do,” Parnasse told UFC.com. “I think it’s perfect timing. I’m arriving with maturity. I’m 28 years old, and I have all of this baggage from fighting in other places. I have everything I need to show off in the cage.”
“I think it’s important to have experience and maturity when you come here. I’ve had more than 25 fights outside, so I think it’s really important to be able to understand your opponents and understand the game. I have a lot of finishes and a lot of knockouts, so UFC knows I’m going to put on an excellent fight.”
UFC clearly believes Parnasse is ready for the spotlight because it is giving him an extremely rare main-event assignment in his promotional debut.
And the promotion is not exactly handing him a soft landing.
Hooker is a battle-tested, Top 10 Lightweight who has shared the Octagon with some of the division’s most dangerous fighters. Although Parnasse enters the matchup as a massive betting favorite, he is not overlooking the challenge standing across from him.
“He’s a big challenge,” Parnasse said. “There’s a reason why he is so high in the rankings, but I’m up for that challenge. He’s very explosive and likes to do a lot in his fights. I think that, paired with me, makes it a perfect fight because we both like to go in there and put on a great show.”
Expectations surrounding Parnasse are understandably sky-high.
The French standout owns a 23-2 professional record, including 15 finishes, and remains undefeated in seven Lightweight appearances. He is riding a five-fight winning streak and previously held KSW’s Featherweight and Lightweight championships simultaneously.
Parnasse attempted to make history by becoming KSW’s first three-division champion in Dec. 2023, but he came up short against Welterweight kingpin Adrian Bartosinski. That remains his most recent defeat and the only fight he has lost since 2021.
Now, after spending more than a decade building his resume outside the Octagon, Parnasse will finally get his opportunity to prove that the hype is real.
Defeating someone as established and dangerous as Hooker would not merely give Parnasse a successful UFC debut. It would immediately announce him as a legitimate contender in one of the promotion’s deepest divisions.
Eleven years, 25 professional fights and two KSW titles later, Parnasse’s timing might indeed be perfect.
