Bayern Munich fans were hoping that when Jamal Musiala walked off the pitch vs Atalanta in Bergamo, it was a purely precautionary measure. Now it seems that everyone’s worst fears have come true. According to Sky Sport’s Florian Plettenberg, Jamal Musiala will be left out of international duty this month as a precautionary measure.
This means Musiala will certainly miss the upcoming weekend game versus Union Berlin, with zero timeline on his eventual return. Plettenberg’s tweet claims that Musiala still
has pain reactions from his existing injury.
While the report just says that it’s a precautionary measure, it sure feels like a lot more than that. Compared to Alphonso Davies, who is also skipping a callup to the Canadian Men’s National Team, Musiala’s injury is a lot more nebulous with zero clarity on when he might return. Davies is expected to rejoin the team after the international break and might even make the pitch vs Real Madrid, if push comes to shove.
Musiala, meanwhile, continues to wait for a chance to contribute this season. It is just one crushing setback after another, which makes you feel glad that Gianluigi Donnarumma had five goals scored past him by Real Madrid this past week. What he did to Musiala was reckless, and his career is struggling to recover.
For the sake of Bayern Munich and the German National Team, fans will hope the 23-year-old starboy gets back on his feet soon.
