This is definitely Pete Crow-Armstrong Day here at BCB, with “Three up, three down” featuring him as well as this article on his new batting stance.
That new batting stance is a big part of what’s sent PCA on his current hot streak, which got him National League Player of the Week honors two weeks ago.
Today, PCA was again named NL Player of the Week for the week that ended Sunday, his second such award this year. That meant that he played just five games over the week, since Sunday’s contest was rained
out.
Pete certainly made the most of the five games the Cubs played, batting .550/.600/1.300 (11-for-20) with a double, a triple, four home runs, four walks, seven RBI and two stolen bases. Oh, and he hit for the cycle, too.
He’s also making his case to be NL Player of the Month for June. In 17 games this month so far (nine games remain), PCA is batting .437/.481/.930 (31-for-71) with four doubles, two triples, nine home runs, 14 runs scored, 14 RBI, six walks and six stolen bases.
Since I’ve posted quite a few PCA offensive highlights already today, here’s a nice sliding grab he made against the Rockies last Monday [VIDEO].
The last time Cubs players won two Player of the Week awards in a three-week period was in 2019, when Kris Bryant got it for the week ending Sept. 15 and Ian Happ received the award for the week ending Sept. 29.
Here’s hoping this is one of many honors Pete Crow-Armstrong gets this year. Congratulations to PCA!
Today’s game preview will post in a few minutes at 4 p.m. CT.
