Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany did not have to think for too long when he found out that central midfielder Joshua Kimmich was still suffering from the effects of an illness ahead of the team’s
Bundesliga match vs. Werder Bremen.
With a heavy slate of games coming up, the head coach opted to play it safe and rest the team’s engine from starting XI. Kimmich would appear as a substitute in the 61st minute.
“Looking ahead to the next few months, he’ll have to play a lot. This might be the last moment we can possibly give him a rest. This is a positive story for Tom Bischof. I think his integration has gone very well so far. Now the integration on the pitch must also happen. And with (Leon) Goretzka, he has an experienced player next to him,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
The Bavarians cruised to a victory and Kimmich got some extra rest that he desperately needed. In this case, everyone came out a winner.
Bayern Munich was the home side in the Bundesliga on Friday when Werder Bremen came to town.
The Bavarians decimated the visitors 4-0 in a game that was never really close. Bayern Munich was relentless and dominant in every aspect of the match. It is not as if Werder Bremen did not try, but the players just could not match up with the machine that was Bayern Munich.
Let’s get into all of the details — here is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:
