Eagles 2026 training camp practice notes, Day 3: The D-line is dominant – PhillyVoice It’s very early in camp, but I haven’t seen Eli Stowers or Makai Lemon do anything impressive so far. Hurts fired a deep ball to Lemon today, but he was pretty easily blanketed by Cooper DeJean and the pass fell incomplete. One note on Stowers is that he was working on blocking with the offensive line while other tight ends like Dallas Goedert, Johnny Mundt, Grant
Calcaterra, and Cameron Latu were doing route-runner drills with the quarterbacks. That makes sense, since blocking is the more underdeveloped part of his game.

Camp Notes – Big Day for the D – Iggles Blitz
Lemon is a work in progress. He has the skills to be a good slot receiver right away, but there is a new scheme and he’s facing one of the best defenses in the league. That can make things tough on a rookie. It will be interesting to see him develop as camp progresses.
Eagles practice observations: Makai Lemon feels it; Jalen Carter dominates; how much will Jalen Hurts run? – Inquirer
Makai Lemon was targeted more than he was in the first two days, but that didn’t mean the receiver had more receptions. During seven-on-sevens, safety Andrew Mukuba was quick to Lemon on a stick route and nearly had an interception after running through the rookie. Later in team drills inside the red zone, a good play call got Lemon matched up against a linebacker on a short crosser in the end zone. Trotter hooked Lemon to the ground and was flagged for pass interference. Later, Jalen Hurts went to the receiver on a deep route out of the slot. Nickel cornerback Cooper DeJean initially was a half-step behind, but he closed on Lemon as the pass sailed out of reach. Lemon faced predraft concerns about his ability to get separation downfield. I don’t think those questions have been close to answered either way. But he clearly knows what he’s doing on underneath routes and carries himself with confidence, even if he got knocked around some on Saturday.

Berman: The Eagles haven’t slow-played first-round pick Makai Lemon into the lineup even though he missed minicamp. Lemon has been working with the first-team offense, and the Eagles seem committed to finding ways to get him the ball. Conversely, it hasn’t been that way for second-round pick Eli Stowers. He’s been down the depth chart at tight end and has yet to showcase his playmaking skills. I figured Stowers might be more involved in packages with the first-team offense.

Me just being the student of the game, the rookie coming in, just trying to get all the information that I can.” Hollywood Brown shared a college head coach with Lemon, though at two different schools – Wicks at Oklahoma, Lemon at Southern Cal. “Makai works extremely hard,” said Brown. “He’s very detailed as well, and he’s tough. He’s competing every day. You guys see it. He gets hit, bounces back up and goes hard the next play. I’m impressed with him.”

Britain Covey has caught more passes than anybody the first few days of camp. Why? Quarterbacks love throwing to Covey because he’s smart, he knows the entire route tree and he catches everything. Covey only has 13 catches in three seasons – six of them in one game against the Falcons in 2024 – and it’s hard to imagine him having a role in this offense, but he’s the perfect practice player because he’s going to make the quarterback look good. We all know how good a punt returner Covey is. His 11.3 average is 9th-highest among active NFL returners with at least 50 returns and 4th-highest in Eagles history (behind Ernie Steele in the 1940s, Brian Mitchell and Darren Sproles). His 11.3 is also 9th-highest in NFL history by a returner who doesn’t have a touchdown. Which tells you just how consistent he is picking up big yards without any huge returns. Covey is clearly on the roster bubble this summer. If he makes the 53, it will be because of his punt return ability. But he isn’t hurting himself catching the ball the way he has.

It seems the split between A.J. Brown and the Eagles has produced better outcomes for both parties. Brown remains the talk of Patriots camp, where he continues to build a rapport with Drake Maye and cannot stop smiling, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss, while the vibes surrounding the Eagles’ offense in Year 1 under new OC Sean Mannion are much better entering the 2026 season. There’s a good reason for the latter: Quarterback Jalen Hurts might have more reliable protection in the new year. Guard Landon Dickerson, who battled injuries throughout much of 2025, spent his offseason working on recovery and physical preparation, leading him on a trip to Colombia for stem cell treatment that has him feeling much better as he embarks on another campaign. “Beautiful country, beautiful place. Trying to look to get treatment, keep my body healthy,” Dickerson said. “It’s my job, after all, so just exploring all avenues to try and feel good.”

Quinyon Mitchell joked around with reporters after Thursday’s practice when asked about an ESPN article which listed him as the sixth-best corner in the league. Does he think he should have been ranked higher? “I don’t know,” Mitchell said while smiling. “It’s cool.” The third-year corner out of Toledo isn’t focused on outside noise – even after being named a first-team All-Pro. He has been in the Eagles’ facility this offseason getting stronger – both physically and mentally – getting back to the basics and working on his technique. Ahead of the second day of Training Camp, Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio praised Mitchell’s work ethic. “I’m just trying to get better … every day I just put my head down at work,” Mitchell said of his coach’s compliment. “Each and every day I got to come out here, I got to earn my stripes.” “Did that mindset change at all? Earning All-Pro honors this past season?” A reporter asked. ”No.”

“I feel like here I am playing a little bit more off [coverage],” Woolen said after Thursday’s practice. “In my game, I would like that just because I am known for [being a ] press corner. But it would be nice not to press every play, too, right? Just to give a receiver a different look is pretty awesome. And to be able to learn from Vic is amazing.” According to Next Gen Stats, Woolen only allowed 0.5 yards per coverage snap in man coverage in 2025, the fewest among outside cornerbacks. Woolen also had a 31.3% completion rate playing man coverage, the lowest among players at his position.

WR A.J. Brown: Doubs was not the only offseason addition to continue stacking strong days on Saturday, as A.J. Brown continued to look more in-sync with Drake Maye. Brown caught all three of his targets from Maye with his best work coming as he muscled a contested target away from Christian Gonzalez. The 29-year old receiver also added quick hitters on an out and slant before leaving practice early for what appeared to be rest related.

It’s warranted to have shown so much concern for Gardner-Johnson’s health, especially when there’s a chance that any number of other serious outcomes could have been diagnosed. We don’t know the severity of the injury, but multiple medical outlets debrief that a Grade 1 strain to the area takes anywhere between one to three weeks to heal. A Grade 2 lower calf strain can take anywhere from four to eight weeks to fully heal. Thankfully, this appears to be a minor setback for one of the Bills’ biggest personalities, and someone who could play a serious role during the 2026 NFL season.
Packers to sign a former starting long snapper Cal Adomitis – Acme Packing Company
Adomitis started for the majority of the 2022 to 2024 seasons for the Bengals, immediately coming out of Pittsburgh, where he was a college All-American. His first start was in Week 2 of 2022, following an injury to the team’s then-preferred long snapper Clark Harris. In 2025, he joined the Eagles after roster cutdowns, where he played nine games before being waived by the team in December. 10 days after his release from Philadelphia, he landed with his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad and signed a reserve-futures contract with the team after the season. He remained on the offseason roster until June 11th.
Detroit Lions signing former All-Pro veteran linebacker – Pride Of Detroit
Devin White will have a chance to compete for a primary reserve role with the starting jobs likely already taken by Jack Campbell, Derrick Barnes, and Malcolm Rodriguez. But with his experience and strong athletic profile, there’s certainly a chance he can make a run at a situational role on defense. [BLG Note: Former Eagles news.]
Titans sign CB Mario Goodrich – PFT
Goodrich spent the spring playing for Birmingham in the UFL and finished the season with 13 tackles and a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown. He also played for Birmingham in 2025 and appeared in four games for the Eagles during the 2023 season. He had five tackles during his time in Philly.
Cardinals place DT Mustipher on IR, make claim – Revenge Of The Birds
The Arizona Cardinals placed another player on IR on Saturday, the second player in two days. The day before, CB Jaden Davis landed on the list. Another defensive player, DT P.J. Mustipher, was placed on IR after a severe foot injury during the Cardinals first padded practice of training camp. So when asked to choose between [former Eagles quarterback] Sam Howell and Joe Milton III, the Cowboys fanbase overwhelmingly chose Howell 80% to 20%. It seems like game experience carries a lot of weight in this battle, and at QB that can make sense. Howell has a whole season of starting under his belt. Hopefully, though, we never see either player hit the field in 2026 unless it is for mop up duty.

Anchoring the middle, the inside linebackers appear to bring elite instincts, lateral speed, and bone-crushing physicality. While Sonny Styles is a rookie and unproven at the pro level, he is the son of an NFL player, and was drafted 7th overall for a number of good reasons. Expectations are high that Styles will step right into a high-performance group, and that the rookie will see a lot of play time alongside proven veterans Leo Chenal and Frankie Luvu. Frankie, in 2025, was asked to play out of position for much of the season to make up for a devastating number of injuries to other players. With him back in his natural position and in a scheme that is built to take advantage of his strengths, the group’s sideline-to-sideline pursuit ought to be perfectly complemented by the still-developing high-motor play of Jordan Magee, with Kain Medrano, and Ale Kaho competing for roster spots primarily on the strength of their special teams play.

Abdul Carter — The second-year edge defender has been impactful throughout the first four practices. Of course, Andrew Thomas and the other offensive linemen are not in pads, making it more difficult to block. Carter might not win Defensive Player of the Year, but he does seem primed to make a big leap in Year 2.
Which team just gets the job done? – SB Nation NFL
Filling in the fourth spot on the grid we want a team that is almost going to feel ho-hum through the season. They are expected to win their division and they are going to follow through. There won’t be much to overcome, and they aren’t going anywhere near undefeated. But they look real good along the way.
