The future of Fisnik Asllani remains unresolved after the 24-year-old’s transfer to RB Leipzig fell through over the weekend due to a failed medical.
Asllani is back at Hoffenheim, and details of the failed move have emerged in German media. Leipzig had agreed a €25 million deal but medical exams showed a “long-term” physical issue that scared the Red Bull club away.
Hoffenheim dispute Leipzig’s version, saying Asllani’s health issues are a thing of the past and pointing to his record last season when
he played 35 of the team’s 36 matches in all competitions.
Asllani has dealt with injuries earlier in his career, including a knee inflammation that had him fearing for his future in the game a few years ago, but the forward has been healthy and available for the better part of the past two seasons.
Barça have interest in Asllani — who has not been shy about his desire to join the club — as an affordable market opportunity for a young player still on the rise, and the fact he’s back on the market while the Catalans continue to struggle to sign a new striker make it at least possible that his dream move to Camp Nou could still become reality.
