There were no surprises in Tyson Fury’s tune-up bout today in Thailand, as he stopped 46-year-old Mariusz Wach after seven rounds, taking what should be the final step toward the autumn mega-fight with Anthony Joshua.
Fury (36-2-1, 25 KO) seems to have had no trouble in the non-televised fight, where he was out-weighed on the scales for the first time in his professional career. Fury, 37, weighed in at 264½ lbs, which is actually his lowest official weight in his last three outings, while Wach came
in at 291, among the heaviest of his career, all in the last few years with, being frank, his competitive career completely over.
Wach falls to 39-14 (20 KO), with 12 of those defeats coming in his last 18 fights, dating back to 2017.
Joshua fights on Saturday, facing Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia, a fight that is pretty much similar in on-paper challenge but is heavier promoted as a DAZN pay-per-view.
