After a thrilling win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 7, the Detroit Lions are back at home for another divisional matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Sitting at 6-0, the Vikings are the last undefeated team left in the NFL, and they’ll be making the trip to Detroit for the first of two games against Detroit. To break everything down ahead of the game, Meko Scott and I (Morgan) are back with another episode of “Before the Roar.”
Naturally, much of our focus was on Minnesota’s defense. Led by
one of the best defensive play-callers in the NFL in defensive coordinator Brian Flores, the Vikings have the best defense in football by many metrics. We discuss how their veteran group allows Flores to be really creative and aggressive from week to week, and what fans can expect when the Lions’ offense is on the field.
Flipping to the offense and we start by giving flowers to the Vikings skill players. The play on the field has been up and down for the majority of the 2026 season thus far, but it’s tough to pin the performance on players like wide receiver Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, tight end T.J. Hockenson, and running back Aaron Jones. Can quarterback Kyler Murray continue to improve under Vikings coach and play-caller Kevin O’Connell?
Lastly, we wrap things up by going over key matchups and giving our predictions for Sunday’s game. You can watch the entire episode right here.
