With excitement and anticipation building for next week’s league selection process, the NFL has revealed the list of current and former players who will step on stage to announce draft picks for their teams. The name for the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks is a familiar one.
Former defensive end, Cliff Avril, will announce the Hawks’ Day 2 picks from the stage in Pittsburgh, PA.
Seattle is currently
scheduled with selections in both Round 2 as well as Round 3. Since Seattle only holds four picks in this year’s draft, that’s half of the selections that should come by way (publicly, at least) of the former Pro Bowl pass rusher.
Clifford Samuel Avril was on hand to perform the same duties back in 2017, when he announced the drafting of Seahawks players Shaquil Griffin, Delano Hill and Nazair Jones. Of those players, Griffin was the most successful and aided in a Super Bowl title this past season (albeit as a background contributor).
Avril was a third-round pick himself (by the Detroit Lions in 2008) before moving to Seattle and contributing to two Super Bowl runs and a Lombardi Trophy. He proceeded to use the last half of his career to pressure passers as part of the Legion of Boom and climbed to 12th on the all-time Seahawks sack leaderboard.
As fans, we can only hope that the names he announces on Friday can attain the same level of success that he did.
The 2026 NFL Draft will commence on Thursday, April 23.
